AAWGA's purpose is to promote women's golf in the Austin area and provide events that allow women throughout the area to meet and enjoy the fellowship of golf.
Austin Area Women's Golf Association (AAWGA) is one of the oldest Women's Golf Association in Texas. In 1947, 40 women golfers gathered from the two women's golf organizations that had been in operation for several years - The Austin Women's Public Links Golf Association and the Country Club Ladies Golf Association - and completed the groundwork for organization of the Austin Women's Golf Association (AWGA). AWGA was renamed to the Austin Area Women's Golf Association in 2012.
2013 Membership to the AAWGA allows you to participate in play-days at private clubs; Falconhead, Great Hills, Lost Creek, The Hills, Lakeway, Balcones, Barton Creek Lakeside, and public courses Lions and Grey Rock as well as compete in the AAWGA Championship. AAWGA play-days are on the 4th Thursday of the month and are filled by a quota system, with every club allotted a proportional number of spaces to each event. AAWGA runs the AAWGA Championship the last week in September. It is a two day tournament.
